Privacy Policy

RoadyGoat ("we," "our," or "the app") is a location-based music discovery app that helps you find local artists and music as you travel. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

What We Collect

Location Data

RoadyGoat uses your device's GPS location to find artists from nearby towns and songs that reference the places you visit. When you use the app, your coordinates (latitude and longitude) are sent to our server to match your location against our music database. This data is used solely to generate your playlist and is not stored, logged, or retained on our servers after the request is processed.

If you grant background location access, the app monitors for city and state changes so your playlist updates automatically as you travel. A blue indicator bar appears whenever background location is active. You can revoke location access at any time in your device's Settings.

Device Identifier

The app generates a random identifier stored locally on your device. This identifier is sent with certain requests (such as song pinning) to enable features like starred song recall. It is not linked to your Apple ID, name, email, or any other personal information, and cannot be used to identify you.

Apple Music

If you grant Apple Music access, RoadyGoat uses the MusicKit framework to search Apple Music's catalog and play songs. We do not access your Apple Music listening history, playlists, or library beyond what is needed to play the songs we recommend. If you do not have an Apple Music subscription, the app plays 30-second preview clips instead.

Spotify Account Data

If you connect your Spotify account, we access the following through Spotify's API:

• App Remote Control — to play songs within the app
• Library Read — to see your saved songs and check if an artist is already in your library
• Library Modify — to save songs to your Spotify library when you choose to

Your Spotify access token is held in memory only during your session. We do not store your Spotify credentials, tokens, or any Spotify account data on our servers.

Preferences and Listening Activity

Your settings (genre preferences, discovery bias, liked and disliked songs) are stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage. This data never leaves your device and is not sent to our servers.

Song & Artist Submissions

If you submit an artist or song through our website or app, we collect the artist name and hometown you provide. No personal information is required to submit.

What We Don't Do

• We do not sell your data to anyone.
• We do not share your data with third-party advertisers.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not use any advertising or analytics SDKs.
• We do not store your location history on our servers.
• We do not store your music listening history on our servers.

Third-Party Services

RoadyGoat integrates with the following third-party services:

• Apple Music — Music playback via MusicKit. Governed by Apple's Terms of Service.
• Spotify — Music playback via the Spotify SDK. Governed by Spotify's Privacy Policy.

We only access data from these services with your explicit permission and only for the features described above.

Data Storage

RoadyGoat does not maintain user accounts or profiles. Music service session data is stored temporarily on your device. Our servers store only publicly available artist and location data used to power the music discovery engine. No personal data is stored on our servers.

Your Rights

You can revoke RoadyGoat's access at any time:

• Location: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > RoadyGoat
• Apple Music: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Media & Apple Music
• Spotify: Disconnect through your Spotify account settings

Since we don't store personal data on our servers, there is nothing additional to delete.

Children's Privacy

RoadyGoat is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If we update this policy, we'll post the changes here with a new "last updated" date.
